Romania recorded the EU highest annual inflation in September, at 6.5 percent, while households face high fuel and energy costs. The budget deficit is falling but state interest costs rose almost 27 percent, squeezing spending room.
For consumers it is the background to food, rent, transport and energy bills. For policymakers it is a constraint on any budget that assumes inflation falls quickly.
